Port Bienville Industrial Park mapThe Commission’s first endeavor after its establishment in 1963 was the development of the Port Bienville Industrial Park. Grants totaling approximately $5 million from the Economic Development Administration, along with local bond funds provided by the Hancock County Board of Supervisors, provided for water, sewer and rail infrastructure improvements to establish the Park. These initial investments have led to the location of 18 industrial tenants in the Park employing over 1,200 individuals today.

The port's access road connects directly to U.S. Highway 90, and is ten miles from Interstate 10 and eighteen miles from the intersection of Interstates 10, 12 and 59.

Port Bienville Industrial Park is a shallow draft port located at the southeastern portion of the state of Mississippi on the Gulf of Mexico at latitude/longitude 89°40' / 39°14'. A 12 foot channel connects Port Bienville to the Mississippi Sound and the Intracoastal Waterway.

The competitive advantage offered by Port Bienville not available elsewhere in the region is the degree of logistical support in moving goods through multiple modes of transportation.
